complaining about 90+ degree weather during the summer months is something i regretfully do at least several times a day. looking back though, we have it so so so SO good in socal. i need to shut my mouth.  if i had to choose, i’d still go with some overcast weather but a little bit of sweat doesn’t hurt, especially when you get to wear skimpy outfits under a gorgeous sun!

every thursday night, the cal academy of sciences closes their doors to the public and only allows a 21+ crowd into the venue. being from LA, i never would’ve thought a museum and partying would mix but the turnout was quite impressive. the dj played daft punk while people lined up at the bars. though i got a good buzz goin, to be honest  i was more excited to see the little creatures.  thanks to james, clar, eileen, emily and tim for an explorific night!

i did it!!! climbed the second tallest building in LA, the AON center in downtown. this fight for air event supported the american lung association which means a lot to me since my mom suffers from COPD.  i have to say, the 63 stories were not easy…once we got to the 40th story the air started getting thinner, sweat started dripping, lungs started hurting, but it was all worth it once we reached the helicopter pad up top.  we even saw firemen in their full-on gear do this climb so…props to them and their sexy uniforms.  Go Team LoopNet!!! even with all the smog and pollution, LA proves to be a beautiful city.

back in the high school days, yamashiro used to be THE spot to take a first date. i mean, what girl would not fall in love with the great view of LA from the hollywood hills? there’s nothing like a good ol’ romantic sunset overlooking the skyline. the food is nothing to rave about but no one really goes there for the food anyway. yamashiro now has this farmers market every thursday evening. though tiny, it’s worth checking out. they sell organic veggies, fresh seafood where oysters are shucked right in front of you, soy candles, taco, crepe, wurst, gelato stands, and best of all…WINE TASTING. i’d recommend to bring your own bottle there. they have a small corking fee but it’s worth it cause the wine they serve is more like grape juice. oh, there’s even a pink clown named twinkle for the kids…she made me cringe. after buying all my veggies n seafood for tim’s fam, i wandered off and snapped a couple quick shots of the scenery…i love sunsets =)

my alarm clock goes off at 6am. I’m groggy and hungover but when I look outside, it’s cold, beautiful and rainy in the empty streets of SF near union square east. can’t you just hear late night alumni playing softly in the background? i’m insta-happy and understand why SF is one of my favorite cities in the world. the people, the food, the buildings…everything combined makes me love the city. kind of reminds me of a little bit of LA and a little bit of NY. the best of both worlds.

Growing up in a predominantly Asian neighborhood, our streets didn’t really celebrate holidays to the extreme.  If anything, a couple houses would put up plain lights that merely brimmed the roof or you’d see a simple Christmas tree peeking through the window.  Now in Tim’s neighborhood, it’s a completely different story.  Porter Ranch/Northridge knows no boundaries and they definitely put on a good show for Mr. Sandy Claws.  Driving around and seeing all the festive lights makes me warm and tingly inside. This one house though took it a little overboard with the decorations and instead looked creepy.  I’m talkin fake snow with a snow blower, 15+ santa figurines laid out across the front lawn, one life-sized santa that just stood there and stared…you get the picture.
