is finally over.

When I was in school down in San Diego, one of my favorite places to eat was at Wings N’ Things. It was this place up the street from my apartment that served buffalo wings and bread sticks. Every other wing place I’ve been to just does not compare.

Until I tried Alondra Hot Wings down the street.

I wouldn’t think to try this place, but my sister had purchased one of those restaurant.com Gift Certificates. It was a $25 gift certificate she bought for $3. They require you to spend atleast $35 to use it. Plus, they add 18% gratuity and tax prior to taking $25 off.

Will and I went to go try this place out, since we were craving buffalo wings. We walked in there around 10pm on Saturday night, and the place was packed. We even had to wait outside for about 15 minutes before getting a table.

The menu is amazing. Huge selection of wings with different sauces, awesome pizzas, burgers, all the fried goodness you could ever think of. I was in heaven.

We each ordered a drink. Will had the usual soda. And I decided to try the peach iced tea. To my surprise, it came with “real” (canned) fruits inside!

Started off with 2 appetizers: fried zucchini and cheese balls (think fried dough stuffed with mozerella cheese rolled around in garlic butter served with marinara sauce)

We decided to order 25 buffalo wings, medium spicy. We tried the hot and it was way too crazy. They even had this “Atomic” flavor, which requires you to sign a waiver before eating. No thanks. This isn’t Man VS Food here.

The right side was the “medium” and the right side was the “hot”.

The other awesome thing about this place is you can ask for your wings to be extra crispy. And of course, being the fatties we were, we requested our wings that way.

In the end, we were still short $3 before meeting the $35 minimum, so we ordered and forced this boysenberry cheesecake down. And then regretted it immediately right after eating the entire thing.

Very good deal, considering we ordered enough food for our lunch the next day. The entire total came out to less than $22, AFTER tip and tax. AWESOME!!

And I’m addicted to online shopping.

In the last week, I purchased the following:

1) Electric toothbrush. Justification – Daily necessity…on crack.
2) Face wash, spray on sunscreen, make up remover, hand creme. Justification - More daily necessities.
3) Bedding set. Justification – I have been using my Rescue Rangers sheets since I was like 5 years old. No joke. Come over and look at them.
4) Mini tripod. Justification – Need it to tape Will’s weekly basketball league games. Wow, that’s dedication right there.
5) IPhone Car Charger. Justification – The one I bought broke. And my IPhone battery life is horrible. 3 hours tops.
6) Canon Lens Mug. Justification – I can look like an uber nerd at work now when I drink my coffee. Plus, I’ve been wanting one since the official photographers got them at the Winter Olympics in Canada. The Chinese finally started making knock off versions with lots of lead in them. Cup of lead in the morning, anyone?

I really need to stop this online shopping thing. It’s just so damn easy. Intrawebs, you are my nemesis.

Even Mochi knows about my problem. She’s giving me the “DO YOU REALLYYYYYYYY NEED THIS?” look.

YES MOCHI, I DO.

Will you marry me?

Delicious ramen place near my house. I’ve heard so much about it, that I finally had to go try it this past weekend. I’ve never eaten Hakata style ramen before, and my first experience was definitely a pleasure. In fact, it was like a party in my mouth.

I ordered the lunch set that included the ramen and 6 pieces of gyoza. YUM YUM.

So the way it works is that you order the plain ramen and add toppings to it. You can add corn, bamboo, and eggs, just to name a few of your choices.

If you’re into spicy foods, I would definitely recommend the spicy miso. SO GOOD!!! It’s this paste that you throw into your soup. Wow, my mouth is watering just thinking about it right now.

This is how the ramen comes. You can choose the amount of oil in it, how cooked you want your noodles to be, and how much flavor you want in your soup. This is pretty much like a build your own ramen place.

Will ordered another popular dish: the soboro-don. I have been searching for a restaurant that serves this for YEARS. Growing up, I frequented Kokekokko in Little Toykyo often and they have THE BEST soboro-don. It comes topped with a raw quail egg, and it is to die for.

The soboro-don served at Shin-Sen-Gumi isn’t bad either…but it definitely does not compare to Kokekokko. You can take that to the bank.

Does the soboro-don kind of sort of look like dog food to you? I keep staring at it, and this picture is definitely not that appetizing. :(

I have a friend named Jeff.

Everytime we go out to eat, he calls ‘dibs’ on all the girls’ food, knowing that they won’t be finishing it. So this is how it all goes down: Jeff orders his own entree, sits around and picks off of other people’s plates while they’re eating it, then proceeds to pack his untouched meal home, while sitting on a full stomach of everyone else’s food.

True story:

My friend Sol here is so embarassed.

So am I.

Work.

As of late, I’ve been so consumed with work that when I finally make that 40 minute trek back home at the end of the day, I’m ready to eat some dinner and knock the eff out! Last night, I got home a little after 9, ate some noodles, and decided that I would “take a nap”. This nap quickly turned into 3 hours of being passed out on the couch and then waking up, looking confused at the clock…and then dragging my body up the stairs to the bathroom to get ready for sleep, and then finally to my bed.

I woke up feeling good. Now, I’m thinking I might just need to sleep at 9:30 every night to keep up with my work exhausting me.

Man, growing up sucks! I wish I was a baby panda. Lay out in the sun day in and day out. How awesome does that sound?
